Kit List

This is just a suggested list for extended periods;

Main kit

- 65L rucksack (we recommend you have it fitted at the shop, they’ll make sure you have the right one for your height, and adjust the straps for you)

- Lightweight one man tent (search for ‘one man bivvy tent’ - We recommend Snugpack Ionosphere)

- A trekking air mat (We recommend Jokel sleeping mat)

- 2 season sleeping bag and thermal liner (a 3 season bag takes a lot more space in your pack, and a proper mat and thermal liner should keep you warm enough).

- Thermal long sleeve & leggings (Dry kit for sleeping in. We recommend Patagonia)

- Dry bags (we recommend exped fold 4 pack) - These are really helpful to organise your pack, keep things dry, and for stuffing with clothes to make a pillow

- Camelback water reservoir 1L

- Small thermal foil lunch bag

- Collapsible coffee cup

- Full sleeve fleece

- Fleece body warmer

- Flannel shirt

- Vest

- Good waterproof jacket (We recommend Patagonia)

- Zip off/convertible trousers

- Waterproof trousers

- Peaked hat

- 2 pairs of hiking socks (wear one, hang one on your pack to dry)

- 2 pairs of comfy socks for the evening (wear one, hang one on your pack to dry)

- Leg warmers (covers your bootlaces and stops them catching on your other boot, can be pulled up to protect bare legs from nettles)

- Walking boots (break them in first, test them on a 10 mile walk with a heavy bag)

- Crocs/ light & comfy shoes for the evenings

- 2 pairs of underwear (wear one, hang one on your pack to dry. Black ones are less obviously pants hanging on your bag!)

- 2 Comfy crop-top or sports bras (wear one, hang one on your pack to dry)

- Small paperback notebook and 2 biros for journaling/notes/sketching

- Small battery pack for charging phone

- Fast charging USB plug and cables


Toiletries/emergency kit

- Microfibre towel

- Microporous tape for sore feet

- Mini first aid kit

- Mini sewing kit for emergency repairs

- Factor 50 sunscreen (you won’t need more than 50ml)

- Anti bac, with a good length of duck tape wrapped around the bottle for emergency fixes.

- Safety whistle

- Trowel (we recommend Coghlan’s unbreakable scoop)

- Water purification (we recommend aqua pure traveller water purification bottle & filter)

- Biodegradable baby wipes

- Alcohol wipes for cleaning cuts/scrapes

- A pack or two of tissues

- Blister plasters (we recommend compeed)

- Map reading compass

- Penknife

- Headtorch (make sure your batteries are fresh or you have one spare set)

- Castille soap (50ml should do for showering, hair, laundry and washing your coffee cup/lunch box)

- Toothbrush

- Toothpaste

- Dental floss

- Moisturiser 50ml

- Conditioner 50ml

- 10ml bottle of essential oil for aromatherapy/ bites and stings (our favourite all rounder is lavender)

- Any regular medication

- Antihistamine if required

- Bite & sting treatment if you are likely to suffer

- Eye mask and ear plugs

- Feminine hygiene products (we recommend a menstrual cup)
